Alright, so I got a little bit sidetracked this morning looking at historic and contemporary trips to space. The thought occurred to me how much closer we are to Mars now than we were when some of these photos were taken. It seemed like an unthinkable task then, and now we have progressed so much since then.
It is unlikely going to happen in my life time, but maybe in the life time of my children.
That somebody could travel that far. Through a space that is inhospitable for human life to a planet that is just as inhospitable. The thought seems out of this world, a work of fiction, but there are plenty of people actively working toward this goal.
The following pictures give you a little taste of that progression. The world of then mets the world of tomorrow. Our World.
